Sometimes not reacting is responding intelligently

Learning not to react is sometimes a great form of intelligence. We develop this wisdom over time, through our different experiences.

Sometimes our relationships bring more or less positive things, whether we like it or not. And sometimes, not reacting allows us to preserve our emotional health and our sanity.

However, we don’t always realize that we have unhealthy exchanges and can expect an emotional reward that will not come.

In other words, there are times when we give up our well-being for relationships that can be harmful to us.

Learn not to react in order to live peacefully

Sometimes not reacting to confusing situations is the best response we can give. So we can start to distance ourselves when:

  • Criticism is not constructive and is simply meant to hurt.
  • There are bad intentions in the person’s comments and actions.
  • The person makes us feel guilty for things over which we have no control.
  • The selfishness of others prevents us from developing and growing.

Do not react to keep the mind at ease

Sometimes comments, words, emotions, and feelings can be harmful and can affect us.

When we manage to manage the distances in these situations, it allows us not to suffocate.

We can thus escape by working on what blocks thanks to the internal dialogue.

At first, it can be difficult to distance ourselves, but the benefits are quickly visible.

Grant forgiveness to others

Sometimes we can find it hard to forgive some hurtful words in times of anger. Our words can overtake our thoughts and have profound consequences.

Here’s a sobering little story:

A father asked his incredulous son to drive steel nails into a smooth wooden plank and asked him to stick one whenever he argued with someone. What he did.
